The Film Festival

Our vision for the Lost World Short Film Festival is that it will become an annual 'must do' for Filmmakers who wish to combine networking, brainstorming, soaking up great films and chilling in one of the most desirable spots on this Planet. Apart from anything else, the entire region is a film location Paradise and it's highly likely you may want to return here to film your next production. Once people come to the Lost World, they always want to return, in fact, many never leave!

Above all else, Paleochora is famed for it's laid back, chilled out charm. The Lost Wold Film Festival will reflect this classic local vibe, so expect less glitz, and more of a relaxed, fun & social ambience.

In due course we will announce details of parallel Talks and Master Classes which will be included in our Film Festival Programme. Keep a weather eye for details on our website.

 

Attending to the Festival

We have a limited number of complimentary rooms which the Paleochora Hotel Association, Rooms Association & Independent Hoteliers have kindly offered to Officially Selected International visiting filmmakers. Complimentary accommodation is allocated on a first come first serve basis, so best let us know as early as possible about your travel arrangements so we have time to organise complimentary of discounted rooms.

(To be eligible, filmmakers must have reached Official Selection Status plus provide us with evidence of Travel to Crete arrangements/bookings)

There will also be generous Accommodation discounts available for Festival Attendees. (Details to be announced)

Our core festival team is made up of a small group of volunteers, film enthusiasts and film professionals. Our goal is to provide the best possible communication and a fun, productive festival experience. If there is anything we can assist with, please send us an email and we will do our best to reply within 48hrs.

AWARDS

Awards are not our top priority, great filmmaking is! If your Film is selected to screen at the Festival, it means we love it and know that our audience will too. We also expect to have to make tough choices about which films make it onto our Festival programme. However, since another of our big goals is to make this a Festival where Filmmakers take the opportunity to fully participate by attending our event, our LWSFF Award section is reserved exclusively for participating Filmmakers or their representatives who attend in person at our Festival in Paleochora.
